Get started with CRAM
One of the first steps in getting started with CRAM is choosing how you will do your fieldwork. CRAM takes advantage of portable computer technology to bring detailed aerial imagery and automated assessment forms into the field. CRAM software is designed to be used with a tablet computer or laptop.
Although computer-based CRAM is encouraged, is also possible to do CRAM fieldwork on paper, and transcribe the data into CRAM via the CRAM website.
To get started using CRAM with a field computer, follow these steps:
- Familiarize yourself with the CRAM methodology by attending a training session and reading the CRAM User’s Manual and the Using the CRAM software section of the eCRAM Installation & Use Guide
- Obtain hardware meeting the system requirements
- Register
- Download and install the software
- Select and order your imagery DVDs
- Install the imagery by following instructions in the Installation & Use Guide
- You are now ready to make your first field assessment
