California Rapid Assessment Method

CRAM

CRAM System Requirements

CRAM is designed for use in the field with a dedicated tablet computer. You may also be able to use it with an ordinary laptop computer, however the software requires a fast processor and a very large amount of hard disk space (starting at 3 to 15 gigabytes). Hard disk space is needed because the software makes use of highly detailed aerial imagery and state-wide topographic maps. More details are provided in Selecting and Ordering Imagery.

System requirements

System: Windows 2000 or XP (XP recommended)
Processor: 700 MHz or better (>2 GHz recommended)
Free space: 3–15 GB (gigabytes, not megabytes) and up, depending on counties and imagery needed.
RAM: 256MB or better (1 GB or more recommended)
DVD Drive (needed during installation only)
Battery life: 6 hrs or greater recommended (an external battery pack can provide the run time needed—see tablet information)
Web browser: The CRAM software is browser-based and requires a recent version of either Firefox (version 1.5 or greater) or Internet Explorer (version 6 or greater). Earlier versions of these browsers may not work. Firefox is recommended over Internet Explorer due to substantially higher performance.
